Vermifuge
Vermifuge is a medicine that is used to treat parasitic worm infections. It works by killing the worms or paralyzing them so that they can be expelled from the body. Vermifuges can be administered orally or as an enema and may be composed of a single active ingredient or a combination of several ingredients. Common active ingredients include piperazine, mebendazole, albendazole, ivermectin, and levamisole. These medications kill or paralyze the worms, which are then expelled from the body in the feces. In some cases, the worms will migrate to the anus before being eliminated. Vermifuges are often effective in treating pinworms, roundworms, and hookworms, but may be ineffective against tapeworms.
