Spermicide
Spermicides are a type of contraceptive that work by blocking the sperm's ability to fertilize an egg. They are a type of chemical that is inserted into the vagina before intercourse. Spermicides contain a chemical that kills sperm, either by disrupting the sperm cell membrane or by blocking the sperm's ability to penetrate the egg. This helps to prevent pregnancy but does not provide protection against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Spermicides can be used alone or in combination with other contraceptive methods, such as condoms, for added protection. Spermicides are available in several forms, including foam, cream, jelly, suppository, and film.
