Rodentifuge
A rodentifuge is a substance or device used to repel or deter rodents such as rats and mice. The active ingredient in most rodentifuge products is a chemical irritant which causes a mild irritation to the respiratory system, eyes, and skin of the rodent, resulting in the rodent attempting to leave the area. Other active ingredients may include essential oils, loud noises, bright lights, and other stimuli that cause aversive reactions in rodents. The use of rodentifuges is an effective way to reduce rodent populations in residential and commercial buildings. The most common active ingredients used in rodentifuges are typically found in commercial pest control products and are specifically designed to repel rodents. These active ingredients have been found to be effective in reducing rodent populations, and are generally considered to be safe for humans and other mammals, as well as birds and other wildlife.
