Paralytic

Paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) is a type of food poisoning caused by consuming shellfish contaminated with certain types of toxins. The toxins are produced by certain species of microscopic algae and are concentrated in the tissues of certain shellfish. These toxins can cause a variety of symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and muscle paralysis. In severe cases, PSP can lead to respiratory failure, coma, and even death. Treatment for PSP is mainly supportive, with the aim of treating the symptoms and preventing further complications. The most effective way to avoid PSP is to not eat any shellfish that may be contaminated with toxins.
