MDR Inhibitor
MDR inhibitors are a type of drug that inhibit the activity of the multidrug resistance (MDR) proteins. MDR proteins are efflux pumps that are found in many types of cells, including cancer cells. These proteins are responsible for pumping drugs out of the cell, making them less effective. MDR inhibitors work by inhibiting the activity of the MDR proteins, thereby allowing drugs to remain in the cell longer and increase their effectiveness. The use of MDR inhibitors has been found to enhance the effectiveness of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments, as well as antibiotics and other medications. MDR inhibitors have also been used to treat bacterial infections, HIV, and malaria.
