Herbicide

A herbicide is a chemical or biological agent used to control and destroy weeds and other unwanted plants. Herbicides are used in a variety of different ways to reduce competition for light, water, and nutrients, to prevent the growth and spread of weeds, and to improve crop yields. Herbicides are typically applied to areas where weeds are growing, and they work by killing or weakening the weeds. Some herbicides have a systemic effect, meaning they are absorbed by the plant and are distributed throughout its tissue. Other herbicides are contact herbicides, meaning they kill or weaken the weed by contact with the leaves or stems. Herbicides can also be used to control invasive species, as well as to control or eradicate pests. Herbicides can be used to improve crop yields, reduce competition, and control weeds in areas where it is difficult or impossible to do so physically.
