Gluconeogenic

Gluconeogenesis is a metabolic process that produces glucose from non-carbohydrate sources such as proteins, fats, and some organic acids. This process is necessary for the maintenance of proper blood glucose levels in the body, as well as for the production of energy for the body's cells. Gluconeogenesis is especially important in times of fasting or increased physical activity when the body needs more glucose than is available from dietary carbohydrates. Gluconeogenesis plays an important role in the regulation of glucose levels in the body and is thus a vital part of homeostasis.
