Calmative
Calmative is a term used to describe medications or herbs that have the ability to produce a calming or soothing effect. These substances are typically used to reduce anxiety and stress levels, as well as to help induce relaxation and sleep. They can also be used to reduce nausea and vomiting, as well as to relieve pain and other symptoms associated with certain illnesses. Calmatives are usually administered orally in the form of teas, tinctures, capsules, or tablets. Herbs such as chamomile, valerian, and St. John's Wort are commonly used in these preparations. The active ingredients in calmative medications are often sedative or anxiolytic in nature, such as benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and antidepressants.
