Antiulcer

Antiulcer drugs are used to treat conditions such as ulcers, reflux, and other digestive disorders. These drugs work by reducing the production of stomach acids, decreasing inflammation, or by blocking the production of certain hormones that cause the stomach to produce too much acid. Examples of antiulcer drugs include proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), H2 receptor antagonists, and antacids. PPIs are the most widely prescribed antiulcer drugs and reduce the amount of acid produced in the stomach. H2 receptor antagonists block the action of histamine, which stimulates the production of stomach acid. Antacids neutralize the acid that is already present in the stomach. All of these medications help to reduce stomach acid and reduce the symptoms of ulcers and reflux.
