Antiprolactin

Antiprolactin drugs are medications used to manage conditions that are associated with elevated levels of prolactin in the body. Prolactin is a hormone released by the pituitary gland, which is responsible for producing milk in lactating women and controlling the reproductive cycle in both men and women. High levels of prolactin can cause a variety of health issues, including infertility, abnormal menstrual cycles, and breast enlargement in men (gynecomastia). Antiprolactin drugs work by blocking the action of prolactin and reducing its levels in the body. They are usually prescribed to treat conditions such as hyperprolactinemia, a condition in which the body produces too much prolactin, and prolactinoma, a benign tumor of the pituitary gland that can cause increased prolactin levels. These drugs can also help normalize menstrual cycles in women, reduce the size of enlarged breasts in men, and improve fertility in both men and women.
