Antilithic
Antilithic is a type of medicinal activity that helps to dissolve or prevent the formation of kidney stones. This can be done through dietary and lifestyle changes as well as certain medications. Dietary changes may include increasing the amount of fluids consumed and decreasing the intake of foods high in oxalates and purines. Lifestyle changes may include exercising regularly, reducing stress levels and avoiding certain foods. Medications used to treat kidney stones are typically antilithic agents such as alpha-blockers, calcium channel blockers, and thiazide diuretics. These medications work to reduce the amount of calcium and other minerals that can build up in the urinary tract and form stones. Other antilithic agents include citrate and magnesium supplements, which help prevent stone formation by creating an alkaline environment in the urine.
