Antiedemic
Antiedemic medications are a type of drug used to reduce inflammation and swelling caused by edema. Edema is an abnormal accumulation of fluid in various body tissues, leading to swelling in the affected areas. Antiedemics work by reducing the permeability of capillaries, which decreases the amount of fluid that can pass into the affected area. Common antiedemics include diuretics, steroids, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These medications help to reduce inflammation and swelling, providing relief for patients with edema. In some cases, antiedemics can also be used to treat other conditions such as lymphedema and allergic reactions.
