Antidote mercury
An antidote is a substance that can counteract or neutralize the effects of a poison. An antidote for mercury poisoning is used to treat mercury toxicity. It can be administered orally, intravenously, or by injection. The antidote usually contains chelating agents, which bind to the mercury and help it to be excreted from the body. Chelating agents may be synthetic, such as dimercaprol, or naturally occurring, such as dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA). Other treatments may also be used, such as activated charcoal to absorb the mercury, and supportive care to stabilize the patient’s condition.
