Antidiuretic

Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) is a hormone produced by the hypothalamus, which regulates the balance of water and electrolytes in the body. It is released by the posterior pituitary gland in response to low blood volume, low blood pressure, or high levels of sodium. ADH acts on the kidneys to cause them to reabsorb more water, thus leading to an increase in water retention and a decrease in urine output. This helps to maintain the body's water balance and prevents dehydration. ADH also helps to regulate blood pressure, by increasing the amount of water within the blood vessels and thus increasing the volume of the blood. This increases the pressure of the blood, and helps to maintain normal levels of blood pressure.
