Anticarcinomic
Anticarcinomic activity is the ability of a compound to prevent or treat cancer. This activity is usually attributed to compounds that inhibit the growth and spread of cancer cells. This can be accomplished through a variety of mechanisms, such as the inhibition of cell proliferation, the induction of apoptosis, the inhibition of angiogenesis, or the inhibition of metastasis. Anticarcinomic compounds can be found in natural sources, or can be synthesized in the lab. Natural anticarcinomic compounds include phytochemicals, such as polyphenols, flavonoids, and terpenes. Synthetic anticarcinomic agents include chemotherapy drugs, hormone therapy drugs, and targeted therapies.
