Analgesic
Analgesics are drugs used to relieve pain. They work by blocking pain signals from being sent to the brain and can be taken orally, topically, or intravenously. Examples of analgesics include acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and opioids. Acetaminophen and ibuprofen are non-opioid analgesics that reduce inflammation and provide relief from mild to moderate pain. Opioids, such as oxycodone, are more powerful, and are used for the treatment of severe pain. While analgesics are effective in relieving pain, they are not a cure and should be used only as directed by a doctor.
