Algicide
Algicide is a type of medicinal activity that is used to control the growth of algae in water bodies, such as ponds, lakes, rivers, and streams. Algicides work by killing the algae or inhibiting its growth. This is usually done by introducing a chemical agent into the water that inhibits the growth of the algae, or by physically removing the algae from the water. Algicides can be used to reduce the appearance of an algae bloom, which is an excessive growth of algae that can cause oxygen depletion and other water quality problems. Algicides are also used to protect aquaculture operations from algal blooms, as well as to prevent algae from taking over recreational areas, such as swimming pools.
