Wheeze

Wheeze is a common symptom of a respiratory disorder. It is a high-pitched, whistling sound that occurs when breathing out and is caused by narrowed or swollen airways. Wheezing can be caused by a variety of conditions, such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, and allergies. Wheezing can also be caused by the buildup of mucus in the airways, which can be caused by infection, inflammation, or even smoking. Wheezing can also be caused by a foreign object lodged in the airways, such as a piece of food or an inhaler. Wheezing is usually a sign that something is wrong with the respiratory system, and medical attention should be sought if wheezing is frequent or persistent. Treatment for wheezing depends on the cause, but typically involves medications to reduce inflammation, open airways, or remove mucus, as well as lifestyle changes to reduce exposure to allergens or irritants.
