Urticaria
Urticaria is an autoimmune disorder characterized by the sudden onset of itchy, red, raised areas of skin called hives. These hives can range in size from a few millimeters to several inches and can last for minutes to hours. The condition may be caused by an allergic reaction, certain medications, or infections, but in many cases, the cause is unknown. The most common symptoms of urticaria are itching, burning, and swelling of the affected area. Other symptoms may include swelling of the face and lips, difficulty breathing, and a feeling of tightness in the chest. Treatment typically involves the use of antihistamines and corticosteroids to reduce inflammation and itching. In some cases, a doctor may also recommend lifestyle changes or avoidance of any triggers that may be causing the hives.
