Trauma
Trauma is an emotional or psychological reaction to an event, experience, or situation that is extremely stressful and has a lasting, negative impact on an individual. It can occur after a medical diagnosis, a medical procedure, or a life-threatening medical event, such as a serious illness, injury, or surgery. Symptoms of trauma can include anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, difficulty sleeping, flashbacks, difficulty making decisions, and avoidance of medical settings. Trauma can have a significant impact on an individual's physical and psychological health, as well as their ability to function in their daily life. It is important to recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma and seek appropriate treatment. Treatment often includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, medications, and support groups. With the right treatment, individuals can learn to cope with their trauma and begin to live healthy, productive lives.
