Syndrome-X
Syndrome-X is a cluster of metabolic and hormonal abnormalities that can have a negative effect on the cardiovascular system. It is also known as metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance syndrome, or Reaven’s Syndrome. It is characterized by a combination of risk factors such as abdominal obesity, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, dyslipidemia (abnormal levels of lipids in the blood), and low levels of good cholesterol. Each of these factors is linked to an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Syndrome-X is thought to be caused by a combination of lifestyle factors, including a poor diet, lack of physical activity and a sedentary lifestyle. The primary goal of treating Syndrome-X is to reduce the risk of developing diabetes and heart disease. This can be achieved through lifestyle changes such as eating a balanced and healthy diet, exercising regularly, and reducing stress levels. Medications may also be prescribed to help manage the symptoms.
