Stroke

A stroke is a medical condition caused by a disruption of blood supply to the brain, typically due to a blockage or rupture of a blood vessel. This interruption of blood flow can cause brain cells to be deprived of oxygen and nutrients, leading to their death. Stroke can lead to a range of physical and cognitive impairments, including paralysis, difficulty speaking and understanding language, difficulty with vision and balance, and memory loss. Stroke is a leading cause of disability and death in the United States. Treatment for stroke typically includes medication to reduce the risk of further strokes, rehabilitation to help improve function, and lifestyle modification to reduce the risk of future stroke.
