Scotopia
Scotopia is a condition in which the patient has difficulty seeing in dim light. This is due to a lack of functioning rods, which are retinal cells that are responsible for night vision. People with this condition may find it difficult to see in dark environments and may have difficulty driving at night. Scotopic vision is a type of night vision, which is important for activities such as night driving, hiking, or navigating in the dark. Scotopic vision relies more on rods than cones, and because people with scotopia have fewer functioning rods, their night vision is compromised.
