Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by abnormal social behavior and a failure to understand reality. It is a complex, long-term medical illness, often disabling and typically requiring lifelong treatment. Symptoms of schizophrenia can include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized thinking, difficulty with communication and social interaction, and decreased motivation. The exact cause of schizophrenia is unknown, but it is thought to be related to a combination of genetic, environmental, and psychological factors. Treatment for schizophrenia typically includes antipsychotic medications, psychotherapy, and vocational and social interventions.
