Scab
A scab is a protective crust that forms over a wound to help protect it from further infection and promote the healing process. It is made up of dried blood and other clotting proteins that form a protective barrier over the wound. The scab also helps to keep the wound from drying out and provides a physical barrier against bacteria and other contaminants. As the wound heals, the scab will eventually flake off and new skin will form underneath. Scabs can be uncomfortable and itchy, but they are a necessary part of the healing process.
