Rhinosis

Rhinosis is an inflammation of the nasal mucosa, usually due to a virus or bacterial infection. Symptoms of Rhinosis include nasal congestion, sneezing, a runny nose, and watery eyes. Other symptoms can include facial pain, headache, and fatigue. This condition can be acute, lasting for a few days, or chronic, lasting for weeks or even months. The cause of Rhinosis is usually a virus, such as the common cold virus or the flu virus. Bacterial infections such as strep throat or sinusitis can also cause Rhinosis. Allergens such as dust and pollen can also cause an inflammation of the nasal mucosa. Treatment of Rhinosis usually includes over-the-counter medications such as decongestants and antihistamines. If the condition is caused by a bacterial infection, antibiotics may be necessary. Nasal irrigation and saline sprays can help to relieve symptoms. In some cases, a steroid nasal spray may be prescribed to reduce inflammation.
