Proctosis

Proctosis is a condition that occurs when the rectum becomes enlarged or prolapsed. This can be caused by a number of factors such as pregnancy, childbirth, straining during bowel movements, or other medical conditions such as obesity, chronic constipation, or cystic fibrosis. Symptoms of proctosis include pain, bleeding, itching, and a feeling of a lump in the rectum. In more severe cases, the rectal tissue may protrude out of the anus and cause difficulty with bowel movements. Treatment for proctosis depends on the underlying cause and can include lifestyle modifications, medications, or surgery.
