Pleurisy

Pleurisy is an inflammation of the pleura, which are two thin layers of tissue that line the lungs and the chest cavity. It is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection, but can also be caused by autoimmune diseases and other conditions. Symptoms of pleurisy include chest pain, shortness of breath, and a dry cough. Treatment typically involves pain management, antibiotics, and rest. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to treat underlying conditions.
