Pericardosis
Pericardosis is a condition that affects the pericardium, a double-layered sac that surrounds the heart and other major blood vessels. It is caused by inflammation of the pericardium, which can be caused by an infection, autoimmune disorder, or injury. Symptoms can include chest pain, shortness of breath, and an irregular heartbeat. Treatment usually involves antibiotics or anti- inflammatory medications. In some cases, surgery may be required to remove excess fluid or scar tissue from the pericardium.
