Oxytocic

Oxytocic is a type of medication used to induce labor and to reduce bleeding after childbirth. It works by stimulating the uterus to contract and reduce bleeding. Oxytocic drugs are administered through an intravenous line or sometimes orally. Oxytocic drugs are often used when labor is not progressing normally, when a baby is overdue, or when labor is being induced. They can also help to reduce the risk of post-partum hemorrhage (PPH) and can be used to treat an overly relaxed uterus. Oxytocic drugs can cause side effects, such as uterine hyperstimulation, nausea, and vomiting. They should only be used under the supervision of a medical professional.
