Onychosis
Onychosis is a condition in which the nails become thick, brittle, and discolored. It is often a sign of a fungal infection of the nails, but can also be caused by chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes, psoriasis, or eczema. Symptoms include dry and brittle nails, discoloration, and crumbling of the nails. Treatment includes antifungal medications, keeping the nails clean and dry, and avoiding irritants. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to remove the affected nails.
