Myoma
Myoma is a type of noncancerous tumor that grows in the muscle layers of the uterus. It is also referred to as a leiomyoma or fibroid. It is most common in women aged 40-50. The cause of myoma is unknown, but hormones and genetics may play a role. Myoma can cause a variety of symptoms, such as pelvic pain, heavy and/or prolonged menstrual cycles, frequent urination, and pain during intercourse. In some cases, they may cause infertility. Myoma can also cause the uterus to enlarge and become more painful. Myoma can be treated with medication, such as hormone therapy or birth control pills, or surgery. In many cases, myoma can be managed without surgery. However, if the myoma is large or causing severe symptoms, removal of the myoma may be necessary.
