Lithuria

Lithuria is a medical condition in which the kidneys excrete an abnormally large amount of urinary stones. It is usually caused by an imbalance of certain substances in the body, such as calcium, oxalate, uric acid, and phosphorus. These substances form crystals or stones that can range in size from small, sand-like particles to large, pebble-like stones. These stones can cause pain, blockage of the urinary tract, and other complications. Treatment usually involves changing the diet and taking medications to dissolve the stones or to prevent them from forming. Surgery may be necessary to remove large stones that cannot be dissolved.
