Intoxication

Intoxication is a condition in which a person has taken too much of a medication or drug, resulting in an adverse reaction or overdose. This can be caused by taking too much of a particular medication, taking a medication that interacts with other substances, or taking a medication that is not suitable for a person’s age or medical condition. Symptoms of medical intoxication can range from minor to severe and may include confusion, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, and in some cases, seizures or coma. Treatment for intoxication depends on the type and amount of medication taken. In some cases, medical treatment may be necessary. If the cause of the intoxication is known, the health care provider may be able to reverse the effects of the medication or drug.
