Insulin Resistance

Insulin Resistance is a medical condition in which the body does not respond to insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas that helps the body use glucose for energy. This condition can lead to Type 2 Diabetes, a chronic metabolic disorder in which the body does not produce enough insulin or is unable to effectively use the insulin it produces. It is also associated with obesity and other metabolic syndrome disorders. Insulin resistance occurs when cells in the body become resistant to insulin, meaning they don't respond to the hormone as they should. This causes the pancreas to produce more insulin to try and compensate, but eventually the pancreas can't keep up with the demand, leading to high levels of glucose in the blood. Over time, the cells may become completely resistant to the insulin, leading to uncontrolled levels of glucose in the blood and eventually Type 2 Diabetes. insulin resistance is often caused by lifestyle factors such as a poor diet, lack of exercise, and being overweight. It can also be caused by medications and other medical conditions. Treatment focuses on lifestyle changes such as healthy eating, regular exercise, and weight loss, as well as medications to help lower blood glucose levels.
