Infertility
Infertility is a condition where a couple is unable to conceive a child after a certain amount of time, even with unprotected sexual intercourse. This condition can be caused by a variety of factors, including physical, hormonal, or structural issues. Physical causes include issues such as blockages in the female reproductive system, low sperm count or motility, or endometriosis. Hormonal causes may include issues such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or a thyroid imbalance. Structural issues may be caused by issues such as pelvic adhesions or a damaged uterus. Infertility can also be caused by lifestyle choices or environmental factors such as smoking, alcohol, or drug use. It can also be caused by medical conditions such as diabetes or cancer, or by certain medications. Infertility can be diagnosed through a variety of tests and procedures, including blood tests, sperm tests, ultrasounds, and laparoscopy. Treatment typically involves a combination of medications, lifestyle changes, and surgical procedures. In some cases, assisted reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) may be used to help a couple become pregnant.
