Impetigo
Impetigo is a skin infection caused by bacteria, usually Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes. It is most common in young children, but can occur in adults as well. Symptoms include red sores that can be itchy or painful, and can burst and ooze fluid, which then forms a yellow-brown crust. The sores can spread quickly and cause discomfort. Treatment involves antibiotics and topical creams. It is important to keep the area clean and dry and to wash your hands often to prevent the spread of the infection.
