Hypogonadism
Hypogonadism is a condition in which the body does not produce enough of the sex hormones testosterone (in males) or estrogen (in females). It can be caused by a variety of different issues, including genetic disorders, infections, or damage to the reproductive organs. Symptoms can vary depending on the cause, but may include infertility, delayed or absent puberty, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, fatigue, hot flashes, and decreased muscle mass. Treatment usually involves hormone replacement therapy to restore hormone levels to normal, and can include medications, lifestyle changes, and supplements.
