Hydrocephaly

Hydrocephaly is a medical condition in which there is an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the ventricles of the brain. This condition can cause the head to swell, and can lead to a variety of neurological issues. It is caused by a blockage in the normal flow of CSF, which can be due to a birth defect, infection, tumor, or other injury. Treatment for hydrocephaly typically includes draining the excess CSF, and sometimes surgery to repair a blockage. In some cases, a shunt may be placed to provide a permanent drainage system. Hydrocephaly can be a serious condition, so it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible for diagnosis and treatment.
