Hemiplegia

Hemiplegia is a neurological disorder that affects one side of the body, resulting in paralysis of the affected side. It is caused by damage to the motor areas of the brain, either from a stroke or an injury. This can cause problems with movement, sensation, and coordination. Symptoms of hemiplegia can range from mild to severe, and can include weakness and numbness in the affected side, difficulty with balance, difficulty speaking and difficulty with fine motor skills. Treatment may include physical and occupational therapy, medications, and assistive devices. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to correct the underlying cause of the condition.
