Gastric Ulcer

A gastric ulcer is a sore or an ulcer that develops on the lining of the stomach. These ulcers are caused by an imbalance of digestive juices, an infection by certain bacteria, or certain medications. The most common symptom of a gastric ulcer is a burning sensation in the stomach area. Other symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, bloating, and loss of appetite. Treatment for a gastric ulcer usually involves taking medications to reduce stomach acid and to help the ulcer heal. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to repair the ulcer.
