Gangrene
Gangrene is a form of tissue death caused by a lack of blood supply. It is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition in which tissues, typically in the extremities such as the toes, fingers, or limbs, become infected and die due to a lack of nutrients and oxygen. Gangrene can occur when circulation to a certain area is cut off due to trauma, infection, or other medical conditions. It is typically characterized by discoloration of the skin and a foul smell, as dead tissue begins to decay. Treatment for gangrene often involves antibiotics and surgery to remove the dead tissue, followed by skin grafts or amputation if necessary.
