Galactorrhea

Galactorrhea is a condition in which a woman produces a milky fluid from her nipples, unrelated to breastfeeding. It can occur in both men and women, but is more common in women. Galactorrhea often occurs due to an imbalance in the hormones prolactin and estrogen, which play a role in the production of breast milk. Other potential causes include certain medications, certain medical conditions, and the use of certain herbs. Treatment generally involves addressing the underlying cause, such as changing medications or hormone therapy. It is important to speak with a doctor if galactorrhea occurs, as it can be a sign of an underlying medical condition.
