Favus

Favus is a fungal infection of the skin caused by a species of fungus known as Trichophyton schoenleinii. It is characterized by round, scaly patches on the scalp and other parts of the body. The patches typically have a yellowish hue and are often accompanied by itching and discomfort. In more severe cases, the patches can spread to the face, neck, and other parts of the body. In some cases, the infection can spread to the nails, causing them to become thickened, discolored, and brittle. Treatment of favus typically involves the use of antifungal medications and topical creams. In more severe cases, oral antifungal medications may be prescribed.
