Exophthalmia

Exophthalmia is a medical condition in which a person's eyes appear to protrude abnormally from their sockets. It is also known as proptosis or bulging eyes. It can be caused by a variety of underlying medical conditions, including Graves' disease, a type of thyroid disorder. It can also be caused by trauma or infection. Symptoms include redness of the eye, tearing, swelling of the eyelids, double vision, and a feeling of pressure in the orbit. Treatment depends on the underlying cause and may include eye drops, surgery, or medications.
