Epistaxis

Epistaxis is the medical term for nosebleed. It occurs when tiny blood vessels in the nose become damaged and bleed. Most nosebleeds are caused by minor trauma to the nose, such as picking or blowing the nose, or a nose injury. In some cases, however, a nosebleed can be a sign of a more serious medical condition. Epistaxis can range from a minor trickle of blood to a heavy and continuous flow. Treatment will depend on the severity of the nosebleed and the underlying cause. In some cases, nosebleeds can be stopped using pressure or home remedies, while in more severe cases, medical intervention may be required.
