Edema
Edema is the accumulation of fluid in the interstitial tissue of the body, which causes swelling and puffiness. This most commonly occurs in the lower limbs, such as the feet and ankles, but can also affect other parts of the body. It is caused by a variety of medical conditions, such as heart failure, kidney disease, and liver disease. Edema can also be caused by allergies, burns, and other skin conditions. Treatment for edema depends on the underlying cause; it may include lifestyle changes, medications, or surgery.
