Dysentery
Dysentery is a medical condition characterized by severe diarrhea with blood and mucus in the stool and severe abdominal pain and cramps. It is usually caused by bacterial, viral, or parasitic infection, though it can also be caused by certain medications or food poisoning. Dysentery can lead to dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and malnutrition if left untreated. Treatment typically involves antibiotics and supportive care, such as fluid and electrolyte replacement. Prevention includes proper handwashing, safe food preparation and storage, and avoiding contaminated water and food.
