Diabetes
Diabetes is a chronic medical condition in which the body is unable to properly regulate blood sugar levels. It is caused by a problem with the body's ability to produce or respond to insulin, a hormone that helps control the amount of glucose (sugar) in the blood. Diabetes can lead to serious health complications, including heart disease, stroke, and kidney disease. There are two main types of diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disorder in which the body's immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin, while Type 2 diabetes is caused by an inability of the body to properly use insulin. Treatment for diabetes typically includes lifestyle changes, such as a healthier diet and regular exercise, as well as medications, such as insulin or other diabetes medications.
