Corneosis

Corneosis is a skin condition characterized by thickening, scaling, and flaking of the outer layer of the skin. It is caused by a disruption in the normal shedding and regeneration cycle of the skin, which results in the accumulation of dead cells on the skin's surface. Corneosis often appears on the face, elbows, and knees and is most common in older adults. Symptoms include dryness, itching, scaling, and flaking. Treatment of corneosis typically involves the use of moisturizers and topical corticosteroids. In more severe cases, laser therapy may be used to remove the thickened skin.
